Kitchen's Best

Tucked in a little shop along Pasong Tamo Extension is Kitchen's Best. We chanced upon it last quarter of 2010. You wouldn't know it from the area as Pasong Tamo Extension is pretty much littered with industrial buildings, furniture shops, gallery, warehouses, and auto showrooms.

kitchen's best surprise
I've been raving enough of Kitchen's Best cakes that my officemates surprised me with not one but 2 cakes from them!

pasta chicken thermidor
The first time we ate there, I had this chicken thermidor. I can't fully recall now how it tasted but I remember tomato sauce, pasta, chicken, drizzled with parmesan. I remember liking it but found the serving left me wanting.

Mediterranean Beef
H had this Mediterranean Beef which tasted like beef tapa. Not such a winner for H. The serving also left him wanting.

Though we're not fan of the servings, I quite distinctly recall that we thought the dishes used quality ingredients.

But there's more, cakes are Kitchen's Best specialty.

opera cake
On that same day, we had this Opera cake which we just loved. More buttery and has less layers than Bizu's Opera Cake.

mango sans rival
The content of that huge cake box pictured above: mango sans rival.

slice of mango sans rival
We had this at the office (excuse the orange plate) and the unanimous decision was that it was too sweet. We were a group of 8 and we weren't able to finish this off.

mini mango royale
Now isn't this just pretty? My officemate thoughtfully bought me a mini Mango Royale to bring home to my family. Thanks V! :*

And I've saved the best for last, the piece de resistance:
slice of plaisir sucre
Plaisir sucre: ferrero in a cake.

Just love, love, love, love this cake! It's just the right combination of chocolate, crust, and sweetness. Be very careful though as this easily melts when not refrigerated though still as good. Yummmm... I'm drooling just thinking of this.

We even bought another layer for my mil's 50th.
plaisir scure
Can't wait for the next one!

The interior has a really homey intimate feel to it. It's a bit secluded and there's barely any foot traffic in the area so this is a good place to have a date. Definitely one of Pasong Tamo's best kept secrets.
