Club Balai Isabel - Talisay, Batangas

Let me show you another Batangas resort we went to 2 years ago also care of my previous company. It was for a company outing so unlike our team building at Blue Coral Beach Resort, the place had to be big enough to accommodate a couple of hundred of people. We ended up at Club Balai Isabel in Talisay, Batangas.

The place was fantastic! I couldn't say anything bad about it, really. Clean and fresh-smelling rooms, better than average buffet, I was definitely glad at that time that I decided to join the company outing despite the fact that my then-bf-now-husband has just left the company and I might end up all alone the whole time during the outing.

Blue Coral Beach Resort - Laiya, Batangas

It's Holy Week once again and I'm sure a lot of Manilenyos right now are migrating to the beaches, nearby Tagaytay, or going to their respective provinces. But if you're going to Laiya, Batangas, let me just tell you, no let me show you my experience with one of the resorts there 2 years ago.

Blue Coral

Blue Coral Beach Resort is one of the resorts dotting the beaches along Laiya, Batangas. It was a company team building. We got there around 11 in the morning and we had to wait some time to be checked in. I thought they were preparing the rooms but you can only imagine my surprise (and disgust) when I checked the bathroom to our room and found this:

Going Green: Moving on to Biodegradable Nappies

My daughter, Euna, uses about 5-6 diapers on a daily basis which translates to about 180 diapers a month and a whopping 2,160 diapers a year! I can only imagine that that'd be a hill of nappies. So in line with my conscious effort to go green this year, I've recently started Euna on using Safeties Nappy from Australia. Claiming to be 90+% biodegradable (I am confused about this since other's are claiming 100% while others only 80%), I am hoping that my daughter will be leaving less carbon footprint and I would feel less guilty. I am this close to losing sleep over my thoughts of impending doom and the kind of world I'm going to leave her with. Personally, I still prefer Pampers Active Baby because I think it just molds better to Euna's body and movements but I made my choice to stick this one out. So far, I haven't experienced leaks from the Safeties diaper. Somehow, I was thinking that anything biodegradable would be of inferior quality (turns out I was wrong). It also happens to be cheaper than the Active Baby line of Pamper's. If you would like to get your hands on one, there are a lot of online sellers out there. Just take the time to compare prices. ;)

Safeties Nature Nappy

Yes, I have initially planned on using reusable cloth diapers and even bought lampins, chino pinos, and diaper clamps but there's no way my husband and I were going to launder the soiled cloth diapers ourselves. And since we don't have a maid, we ended up using disposable diapers instead.

Ok. Enough about diapers. Back to regular programming.

Why The Absence

My trusty laptop quit on me and I still don't have hired help. Sigh...

Coming up (when I have the time):

  • More Singapore posts (well, maybe just the Singapore Zoo)
  • Lunching at Kebab in The Fort
  • Turning another year and my birthday cake
  • Post birthday dinner at Chelsea
  • Buffet at Crustasia; and
  • Upcoming move to Malaysia (*.*)X keeping my fingers crossed. I might have just jinxed it!

Take care you all!

Visual Tour: Singapore Flyer

Who doesn't recognize this? Asia's counterpart to London's London Eye (well there's the Star of Nanchang in China and soon the Great Wheel of China). But when in Singapore, there's the Singapore Flyer. Standing at an imposing 541 feet, you cannot miss it.

If You Haven't Booked Your Complimentary Night With Accor Yet, Book Now!

Remember I purchased the Accor Advantage plus with a free night? Well, I haven't gotten around to claiming that free night yet and was planning on using it any weekend this March but found out earlier that there are no more Saturdays available for the complimentary night at Sofitel Manila! What's more, I checked April, May, and June, looking for an available Saturday at the Sofitel Manila and was able to reserve for the 2nd Saturday of July! Whoa!!! That's a long way off! Reminder to self to book early should we decide to continue membership for next year. So this is the loophole. Oh well, I should have known it was too good to be true (still not a bad deal if you ask me. I just have to be smarter when using it). So if I were you, better book now!

Have You Tried The Latest From Red Ribbon?

My husband came home one day carrying a red box, supposedly something to cheer me up. But knowing him, I wasn't really sure that it was meant for me, more so when I opened it and saw this:

Starting March with a Bang!

I thought I'd start the month of March with a bang - literally! It was a good thing I looked out the window last night and was able to capture the last minute of this:

Pyro musical competition happening at SM Mall of Asia. This is actually the 3rd Sunday running. There are still 2 more happening this coming Sunday (March 7, 2010) and the next (March 14, 2010). You can check out their website at http://pyrophilippines.com/. Excuse the quality of the vid. I think I've exhausted the zoom capability of the Canon Ixus 120. This also happens to be my first try at editing a video thanks to Windows Movie Maker. Haha! Let me know how I did! Pointers and suggestions most welcome!
